     Heartland  DX   Association                       Announces a

Tailgate Fleamarket
THE DATE: April 15, 2000
SUCCESS: I would like to thank all of you who helped make the VE Session and Tailgate such a great success. This was the first VE Session for the Heartland DX Association and without your participation and support, it would have been nowhere near what it was!
104 individuals went through the examination process:
     1 New Tech license granted
53 Upgrades from Tech+ to General
12 Upgrades from Tech+ to Extra
38 Upgrades from Advanced to Extra
I found it interesting that no one went from General to Extra.
One YL came in and tested as a new Technician!
We also had a great deal of help from amateurs from many other clubs including, AK-SAR-BEN ARC, Pioneer ARC, SouthWest Iowa ARC, Bellevue ARC, & Plattsmouth ARC. Thank you to those Amateurs for their assistance!
The free tailgate seemed to be a big success also! There were at least a dozen hams that opened the backs of their cars, trucks, and minivans to sell radios, coax, TNCs, printers, antennas, and a lot of other stuff! They braved the cool temperatures and the breeze, but they had a great time!
The social hall at St. Joan of Arc Church seemed to work quite well and we may have to see about securing this site for another "event". Thanks again to everyone for their hard work and dedication to HDXA! -73 de KK0DX/AE, Todd
